?AS Monaco had quite the campaign. The French side pipped Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title and went deep in the Champions League, putting several talents on display.
One such talent has already moved to Manchester City, with the Premier League side confirming the signing of right-winger Bernardo Silva on Friday.
Striker Kylian Mbappe grabbed most of the plaudits, though, and we can expect several teams to bid for him when the transfer window opens. But for now, another star has emerged as a target for an English side who are said to be ‘pushing hard’ for his signature.
According to French news source L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur are chasing winger Thomas Lemar. The 21-year-old played a pivotal role in Monaco’s success during the season, notching 14 goals and 17 assists. And having mirrored Silva on the left flank of the champions’ attack, he formed a potent partnership with the Portuguese dazzler.
Spurs, meanwhile, completed an impressive season themselves. Mauricio Pochettino led his men to a second-place finish, and they pushed title winners Chelsea quite a bit towards the end.
The Argentinian, who has been somewhat frugal with the cheque book – mainly because he has young talent at his disposal – will want to improve his squad for next season as he looks to get a hold of the title himself.
He may have already realised that a bit of spending could prove the difference between first and second place.
