Paul Clement Insists Swansea City Have 'Turned a Corner' in Relegation Battle

Swansea City put an abrupt stop to a six game stretch without a victory last Saturday, defeating Mark Hughes’ Stoke City 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

Paul Clement’s struggling Swans – who currently sit two points behind 17th placed Hull City in the Premier League table – travel to Old Trafford this coming Sunday and Clement, speaking to the media on Thursday, was left brimming with confidence after the recent win against the Potters, claiming that his squad have ‘put it right.’

Swansea’s boss shared his relief in ending a weak domestic showing in recent weeks by saying: “That run lasted much longer than we all would have liked. One point in six games is clearly not very good.

“We did put it right (against Stoke) both in terms of the performance and the application which I thought was very good, particularly in the first half.

“We had that bit of luck with their penalty miss. But I think we were due it.”

With his squad raring themselves for a testing encounter against Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils, Clement then proceeded to convey his optimism, whilst remaining assured of his team’s abilities.

“I am very confident. Maybe I would not have been if we had not got that good result and also the good performance,” he claimed.

Swansea could also potentially see the return of a number of strong first team members to their ranks, with Leroy Fer, Jack Cork and Martin Olsson all making swift recoveries from their recent injury woes.

In light of the pending returns to his fold, Clement ended by saying: “It’s a good problem for me to have, with injured players coming back.”
