?Former Liverpool\u00a0striker Stan Collymore has no confidence in either of the Reds’\u00a0goalkeepers, and seems to be of the opinion that Simon Mignolet is just a short-term fix.<\/p>\n

The Belgian returned to the starting lineup against Middlesbrough on Wednesday following a string of questionable performances from new keeper Loris Karius.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mignolet played quite well on the night\u00a0and kept a clean sheet as the Reds ran out\u00a03-0 winners. However, Collymore, now a journalist and pundit, says he isn’t fooled.<\/p>\n

Writing in his column for bookmaking site\u00a0?BoyleSports, the former forward described both Mignolet and Karius as ‘calamity keepers’.<\/p>\n

He wrote: “As for Karius, whether he\u2019s Liverpool quality or not remains to be seen. I\u2019m not personally convinced, but then I\u2019m not about Mignolet either, a player bought essentially on the stat of most saves in the league when at Sunderland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“That\u2019s Sunderland who\u2019ve struggled for a number of years, so hardly surprising he had a lot to do!<\/p>\n

“I think Jurgen knows both aren\u2019t up to scratch and doesn\u2019t want to burn either, especially as one was his signing. But calamity goalkeepers (I played with one) don\u2019t give the air of confidence that a constantly changing back four need to keep those clean sheets.<\/p>\n

“Megs made a couple of good saves, but I liken that to Heung Min Son having a couple of decent games as Kane\u2019s deputy earlier this season \u2013 good for the very short term, not consistent enough in the medium or long term in a specialist position.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“So for me, Liverpool now need to be ruthless and go out and find a goalkeeper that the very best in the world want, make him the number one and let one of Karius or Megs battle it out on the training ground to earn the trust of the manager.”<\/p>\n

Liverpool returned to second place on the table with their win against the Teessiders, but will have a tough derby match against Everton to get through on Monday.<\/p>\n

The Toffees have had a difficult season so far, but will be in high spirits after breaking Arsenal’s 14-match undefeated streak with a huge 2-1 win on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
