?Tottenham star Dele<\/inline>\u00a0Alli is planning on appealing a FA misconduct charge he received following a social media post seeming to mock the spread of the coronavirus.<\/inline><\/p>\n

Alli posted a video to a private group on Snapchat in which he appeared to make a racist joke about an Asian man and the coronavirus while at an airport. The video was\u00a0leaked to the national media, and the Spurs midfielder now faces\u00a0a potential ban\u00a0following his actions.<\/p>\n

Alli had until 5pm on Thursday to make a final decision, and should he have opted to appeal the charge he will be granted a personal hearing. News hasn’t been confirmed of an appeal as of yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has twice since apologised for the distasteful post and, as reported by\u00a0?the Evening Standard,\u00a0is hoping to argue that the video\u2019s intended audience, plus his immediate retraction, should warrant his exoneration.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old will be keen to avoid a ban with Spurs struggling for attacking options. Alli has been utilised in a false number nine role following injuries to key-men Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, though to little effect thus far. <\/p>\n

?Alli\u00a0is not the first high-profile player to fall foul of the FA\u2019s social media policies.\u00a0?Manchester City\u00a0star Bernardo Silva was fined \u00a350,000 and received a one-match suspension for a Twitter post relating to City teammate Benjamin Mendy.<\/p>\n

With Mourinho\u2019s team still competing in Europe as well as domestically, the midfielder could be set to miss a number of key games should the FA decide a ban to be the appropriate punishment.<\/p>\n
