Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is extremely relieved to be back in the England squad after suffering several injury setbacks.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old fractured his ankle in a friendly against Germany in March of last year, and would have to face the surgical knife three times due to aggravations, only returning to action for Stoke’s final five games last season.<\/p>\n

Having been recalled to the England set-up by new boss Gareth Southgate, Butland opened up on the ordeal ahead of the Three Lions World Cup qualifier against Scotland on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure there\u2019s plenty more to experience but I\u2019m prepared for whatever is next.\u00a0It feels extremely, extremely good to be back. It\u2019s been a long time and to get the Three Lions back on my chest after some difficult times is really good.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe worst thing about being injured is just missing out on what you love. It can be a lonely place when you are injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou miss being out there with your team-mates and just experiencing the highs and the lows. It was the drive and belief of wanting to get back to where I was that kept me going.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to make up for all the lost time \u2013 missing out on the Euros and missing so many Premier League games. It\u2019s not nice not being able to do something you love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
