?Swansea captain Leon Britton has urged his fellow teammates to learn the lessons from the past season, after they narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship in the final few matches.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Welsh outfit looked destined to finish inside the bottom three for much of the campaign, but confirmed their top-flight safety on the penultimate weekend of the season, when they won 2-0 at Sunderland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Swans eventually ended the campaign in 15th place, but Britton has warned that it should not mask the problems the team have encountered over the past 10 months and insists that all of the players should learn from the experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He told the club’s official\u00a0?website:\u00a0\u201cThe table looks a bit better after we went up a couple of places on the final day, but that doesn\u2019t mask the fact that it has been a difficult season.<\/inline><\/p>\n

“If we can carry on that form next season, hopefully we can have a more enjoyable year.”<\/p>\n

\u201cUp until Christmas time, it was very, very difficult. We got 29 points after the manager came in, so the second half of the season was a lot, lot better.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s difficult to say you have enjoyed it as a player because the pressure has been there all along. If we can carry on that form next season, hopefully we can have a more enjoyable year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most important thing as we try to make that happen is that we learn our lessons. We have made some mistakes as a club and we have to make sure we do not end up in this situation again.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year was the most difficult we have had, while last season was not easy either. We need to make sure we nip this in the bud.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paul Clement’s men enjoyed a sparkling end to the campaign, as they went undefeated in their final five matches and claimed 13 points out of a possible 15.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Though Britton warned that the success over the last few months should not hide the club’s problems, he remains hopeful that the team can carry their strong form into the start of the new season that begins in August.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He added:\u00a0\u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have thought a few weeks ago that we would end up 15th.\u00a0<\/inline>For most of the season, we would have been delighted with 17th.<\/inline><\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a really strong finish \u2013 to get 13 points from 15 in the Premier League is difficult to do.\u00a0I am just pleased that we timed the run well. We came good when the pressure was on and picked up the points we needed.<\/inline><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we need to do now is carry that momentum into next season.”<\/p>\n
