After a turbulent season which threatened relegation\u00a0Swansea ?midfielder Gylfi\u00a0Sigur\u00f0sson insists he is ‘not trying to leave or wants to leave’\u00a0the Swans when the summer transfer window opens in July.<\/inline><\/p>\n

The 27-year-old, who was\u00a0named\u00a0<\/inline>players’ and supporters’ player of the year on Wednesday for a second straight season,\u00a0<\/inline>is an instrumental player in the Swansea lineup and as such<\/inline> has been linked to the likes of Everton and West Ham.<\/inline><\/p>\n

However,\u00a0<\/inline>Sigur\u00f0sson said of his future,\u00a0<\/inline>as reported by <\/inline>Wales Online:\u00a0<\/inline>“I signed a new contract in the summer and I’ve got three years left.<\/inline><\/p>\n

“<\/inline>I expect to stay.\u00a0<\/inline>It’s down to the club if they want to sell me.\u00a0<\/inline>I’m not trying to leave or want to leave.\u00a0<\/inline>I’m very happy here.”<\/inline><\/p>\n

The Iceland international is in his second spell at the club following his re-signing from Tottenham in 2014, and\u00a0<\/inline>his<\/inline> third consecutive season a the Liberty Stadium has returned nine goals and 13 assists which has played an <\/inline>instrumental\u00a0role in Paul Clement’s side surviving the drop<\/inline>.<\/inline><\/inline><\/p>\n

Despite the Swans spending the majority of the season in a relegation battle where they\u00a0<\/inline>eventually\u00a0secured their Premier League <\/inline>safety\u00a0with one game to spare, the 27-year-old admitted.<\/inline><\/inline><\/p>\n

“It has been easy in the last couple of months because we’ve been in a very serious position in the league, so it’s been easy to concentrate on that,\u00a0Sigur\u00f0sson<\/inline>\u00a0added.<\/inline><\/p>\n

“I think it’ll continue to be like that because whatever happens, happens.\u00a0I’m not desperate to go or anything. It’s not like I want to go. It’s just very calm and I’m not focused or concentrating on what people are writing.”<\/inline><\/p>\n
