Swansea’s Icelandic talisman Gylfi Sigurdsson has issued a rallying cry warning fellow Championship strugglers Hull that his\u00a0side will take the relegation scrap to the very last game of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With Sunderland now doomed to the drop and Middlesbrough six points adrift, the fight to avoid the last relegation spot has ostensibly come down to a scrap between Swansea and Hull City.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking after Swansea’s draw at Old Trafford, Sigurdsson told\u00a0?Sky Sports:\u00a0“we’re a point closer now to hope. It doesn’t give Hull too much breathing space and they can’t afford to slip up too many times now. It was important for us not to be going away with nothing.<\/p>\n

“We’re getting to the end of the season where teams are fighting for their lives and they are going to get results. We’re focusing on ourselves and putting the pressure on them so we don’t give them any chances to escape.<\/p>\n

“I think it is going to go all the way to the last game. They probably didn’t expect us to get anything from the game today. It’s good for us to cancel out the point they got.”<\/p>\n

Spanish striker Fernando Llorente missed a late chance to win all three points at Old Trafford, but Sigurdsson refused to be drawn on the failure to claim the win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Shoulda, woulda, coulda,” he said. “He’s scored a few important goals for us. You don’t score them all, so as long as he’s in the right position to get on the end of them I’m sure he’ll score the next one.”<\/p>\n

Refreshingly, the set piece specialist was uninterested in blaming the officials for awarding Marcus Rashford a penalty, despite replays showing the Englishman dived.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We can’t be blaming someone else or the officials. We should have made sure we got our points earlier than coming into the last three games” he said.<\/p>\n

Swansea have Everton, Sunderland and West Brom in their title run in, and Paul Clement’s side will have to work hard if they are to overhaul 17th placed Hull.\u00a0<\/p>\n
