?Swansea manager Paul Clement has expressed his belief that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford ‘deceived the referee’ to win a penalty late in the first half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Wayne Rooney converted the penalty to give the hosts the lead against the run of play, but Swansea levelled with ten minutes remaining through a superb Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick.<\/p>\n

Clement condemned Rashford’s attempt to win a penalty after the game, but\u00a0claimed that referees need help to make such difficult decisions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI looked at reaction my players, they were furious about it so that puts a doubt in your mind whether it was the correct decision,” he told BT Sport – via\u00a0?Wales Online.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen there was the delay between contact \u2013 or non-contact \u2013 and the decision being given; there was a brief pause there which normally would say there\u2019s doubt.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe referee said after the game that he was sure what seen, he was just confirming with the assistant \u2013 but I don\u2019t know why he even asked him because he was almost as far as away as I was.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen the replays showed the player deceived the referee, there\u2019s no other way to look at it. You could say he\u2019s dangled a leg to get the contact, but he\u2019s down before that, he\u2019s down before there\u2019s any kind of contact. The keeper pulled out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added:\u00a0\u201cI think technology has to come. We\u2019ve seen it this season with the Burnley penalty. For me it\u2019s unbelievable that in this day and age with the technology available, the only people that don\u2019t get help are the ones who most need it. We can see it, you can, the fans, everyone apart from the officials. It has to be done. It\u2019s long overdue.\u201d<\/inline><\/p>\n

Despite his frustration at the penalty award, Clement praised the performance of his players to earn a point.\u00a0<\/inline>\u201cWe dealt with it well,” he said.\u00a0“A point was the least we deserved.\u201d<\/inline><\/p>\n
