?Southampton manager Claude Puel believes that his side’s 4-2 defeat to Chelsea was “harsh” on his team, as they put in an admirable performance away at the league leaders.<\/p>\n

The Saints scored twice thanks to goals from two former Blues – Oriol Romeu poked home in the first half while Ryan Bertrand scored a consolation deep in injury time in the second.<\/p>\n

The south coast side gave a good account of themselves and their French boss was pleased with their efforts. Speaking to the ?BBC after the match, Puel seemed happy with his side.<\/p>\n

“It was a good game. We had a lot of opportunities but we conceded two goals on free-kicks. It’s a shame.”<\/p>\n

Puel, who is in his first season in English football, was also asked about Eden Hazard. He managed the Belgian when he was just a youngster while he was in charge of Lille. <\/p>\n

“We played against a good team. Eden Hazard and Diego Costa made the difference today. I had the privilege to start Hazard at Lille. He has the same quality. He’s a fantastic player. At 16, he was the same.<\/p>\n

“It was a good game to watch on the TV. It’s a harsh result. It’s important to finish with good performances and stay in the first part of the table.”<\/p>\n

Southampton are ninth in the league and are seeking to finish in the top half for the fourth straight season. They face Hull at St. Mary’s on the weekend in their next match.<\/p>\n
