Stoke defender Glen Johnson is close to agreeing a new one-year extension on his contract at the Bet365 Stadium, according to the\u00a0?Mail<\/span>.

Talks have been ongoing over the past few days, and the paper is reporting that the former England man has a one-year extension offer on the table, which he is expected to sign.<\/p>\n

Johnson has made 21 appearances for the Potters across all competitions\u00a0this season, and has recently been restored to the starting XI by manager Mark Hughes after recovering from injury.

The 32-year-old had been linked with a move back\u00a0to his\u00a0old club West Ham, but Slaven Bilic is expected to swoop for Manchester City man Pablo Zabaleta instead, with Pep Guardiola reportedly wanting a substantial overhaul of his squad at the Etihad.<\/p>\n

Stoke are also keen to make tracks on the contractual situations with Phil Bardsley and club captain Ryan Shawcross, with the latter expected to prove more difficult to resolve.
