?Swansea manager Paul Clement said his side were full of ‘fear and anxiety’ during their defeat to West Ham on Saturday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Swans slipped to their 19th loss of the campaign as Cheikhou Kouyate’s first-half goal separated the two sides. Having now failed to win a match for over a month, the Welsh outfit sit in the bottom three and have just six games left to save their Premier League status.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking after the full-time whistle, Clement conceded that his side deserved to lose and claims they lost their identity throughout the match.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It’s a very poor result for us. We didn’t deserve anything more than what we got. In the first half we were full of anxiety and fear. It affected out ability to do the basics,” he told the\u00a0?BBC.<\/p>\n

“We made changes in second half to be more positive, but we lost our identity and shape. It was a scrappy, poor game of football.<\/p>\n

“Both teams are struggling. It’s a big result for them and they won’t care about how they performed. It’s not a good afternoon for us.”<\/p>\n

Despite lamenting his team’s nervous approach to the game, Clement suggested that he saw an improvement in the second-half, albeit a small one, and remained upbeat about Swansea’s chances of avoiding the drop.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He added:\u00a0“In the second half we gave it more. We were less anxious, but in terms of shape and technical quality, we were not at the level required.<\/inline><\/p>\n

“We got the ball up there a little bit more after Fernando Llorente came on. We had a couple of half-chances, but we didn’t create enough clear-cut chances.<\/p>\n

“The only positive we can take is that not much has changed around us. Hull lost at Manchester City. It’s still tight with a lot of football to be played.”<\/p>\n
