?Sunderland manager David Moyes has claimed that the Black Cats must rebuild in the summer by recruiting British talent, rather than cheap foreign players as they struggle to adjust.<\/p>\n

This season has been an extremely disappointing one for Sunderland fans, as their side look like they are heading for the Championship next season, and being relegated from the Premier League.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Moyes has been speaking to the press, via the\u00a0?Mirror, about how the recruitment was not good enough this season and they need to rebuild in the summer:\u00a0\u201cWe were short of players last summer, again in January, and will be again at the end of the season, because a lot of players are out of contract.<\/inline><\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever league we are in, that will be the case. We will have to work really hard on recruiting and some of that will need finance. Some of that will be boys on free transfers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s part of the rebuilding and, hopefully, we are in the Premier League to do it. That has to be the first priority. But if we are not, we have to find a way of getting things picked up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Scotsman spoke about how he would like to bring in British talent:\u00a0\u201cI would like players who understand this region and this part of the world. I would love to say I could actually fulfil that but I cannot promise.<\/inline><\/p>\n

\u201cThis region is more suited to British-type players. That should be the starting point \u2013 to get back to those roots.\u201d<\/p>\n

It has been a very big week for Moyes who has been at\u00a0the centre of the news, and full of embarrassment after a video came out with what he said to a female news reporter. The Sunderland manager says that he has been fully focused on his team all week though and it hasn’t distracted him:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has just been normal. I have done the work I have had to do with the players. You have hard weeks. If we were winning, everything would be much easier.\u201d<\/p>\n
