?Sunderland manager David Moyes has offered an apology to Match of The Day reporter Vicki Sparks, after telling her she might get a “slap” for her line of post-match questioning following\u00a0the Black Cats’\u00a00-0 draw at home to Burnley last month.<\/p>\n

Audio footage has emerged of Moyes telling Sparks to “be careful”, after she asked if he was feeling the pressure from Sunderland chairman Ellis Short.<\/p>\n

Moyes was then heard telling Sparks, as quoted by the Mirror: “It was getting a wee bit naughty at the end there so just watch yourself. You still might get a slap even though you\u2019re a woman.”<\/p>\n

“Be careful the next time you come in.” The 53-year-old added to the reporter.<\/inline><\/p>\n

Moyes has since apologised to Sparks for his comments. That apology has been accepted by Sparks, with a BBC spokesman stating<\/inline>: “Mr Moyes has apologised to our reporter and she has accepted his apology”.<\/inline><\/p>\n

This revelation about Moyes’ confrontation with the reporter has added further embarrassment for\u00a0Sunderland. The club\u00a0are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, eight points from safety.\u00a0<\/inline><\/p>\n

Even for a club that prides themselves on late-season escapes, it seems that Sunderland are destined to play Championship football next season.\u00a0<\/inline><\/p>\n
