Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has spent the second half of the 2016\/17 campaign away from Manchester United on loan at Championship side Aston Villa.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has impressed during his brief spell at Villa Park, influencing Villa boss Steve Bruce into expressing his desire to take Johnstone away from Old Trafford permanently next season.<\/p>\n

However Bruce isn’t the only admirer of the Englishman’s talents. According to a report in the Sun, via\u00a0Bournemouth Echo, Bournemouth are one of three Premier League club’s interested in acquiring Johnstone’s flourishing services next season.<\/p>\n

The other two parties tracking the promising keeper – who has kept five clean sheets in his last six appearances for Villa – are said to be Everton and Sunderland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Johnstone, a product of United’s coveted academy set-up, finds himself facing an uphill battle for the number one jersey for Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils. With David De Gea and Sergio Romero to contend with, there’s no surprise when recognising the challenge he faces for a starting place at his parent club.<\/p>\n

The prospect of Premier League football on the south-coast next season may well be enough persuasion for Johnstone to pack his bags for good as he searches for permanent first team football.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However if the Cherries are\u00a0indeed in the race for the keeper who is in fine fettle to date, Eddie Howe undoubtedly faces fierce competition in the shape of\u00a0Ronald Koeman, David Moyes and Steve Bruce alike.\u00a0<\/p>\n
