Sunderland midfielder Duncan Watmore has earned hero status after helping to\u00a0save the lives of three holidaymakers in Barbados after a boat crash.<\/p>\n
As reported by <\/span>the Sun,\u00a0Watmore acted sharply when members of his speedboat were thrown overboard after a collision with a\u00a0catamaran. Despite being among those thrown from the boat, the Black Cats winger managed to help get three passengers out of the water, before the coastguard arrived to ensure rescue.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old was in the Caribbean with his girlfriend as he continues his recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained against Leicester in December.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/i><\/p>\n One of the rescued trio said: \u201cIt was scary, life or death. I\u2019m lucky not to be coming back in a box.<\/p>\n \u201cDuncan helped everybody to get on to the boat \u2014 he couldn\u2019t have been nicer.\u201d<\/p>\n David Moyes allowed Watmore the holiday in order to step up his rehabilitation from injury and he was apparently taking a fishing trip when the incident happened.<\/p>\n The Black Cats star even used his t-shirt to tend to a severe cut on one of the woman’s legs in order to stem the bleeding.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/i><\/p>\n The witness added: \u201cThe catamaran was travelling at speed. We assumed it would see us and change course, but it then got closer.<\/p>\n \u201cThe next thing we knew it had ploughed straight through the boat.\u00a0It broke the boat in half. Everyone was sent flying into the water.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Watmore and his girlfriend were left unhurt by the incident.
