Sebastian Larsson has informed the media in Sweden that his contract situation at Sunderland will be revisited at the end of the season whilst he and the team focus on trying to stay in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old understands the pressing concerns that\u00a0the Black Cats could be relegated into the Championship this season, as the club lie seven points adrift of safety, and has consequently postponed extension talks.<\/p>\n

Larsson is currently with the Swedish national side for the international break and is preparing to face Belarus on Saturday and European champions Portugal on Tuesday.

Despite potentially facing the prospect of being released at the end of the season, Larsson insists he isn’t worried about the situation.<\/p>\n

As quoted by the ?Sunderland Echo<\/span>, he said: “My situation is very relaxed. My contract expires in the summer. That’s about where we are. What happens in the summer, we get to later. It is not a new situation for us [the relegation battle]. All the focus is on Sunderland and help the club.<\/p>\n

Larsson is one of a number of players who are facing the prospect of being released this summer – John O’Shea, Jan Kirchhoff, Steven Pienaar, Victor Anichebe and Joleon Lescott, who only joined the club in January, are all out of contract at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The former Birmingham\u00a0and Arsenal man\u00a0added: “There have been no thoughts about new contracts even flickering in my head. We\u2019ll wait until the end of the season – there wouldn\u2019t be any point in us doing anything now.

“I don\u2019t care who it is. I\u2019m not interested until the end of the season, or certainly until we see what our league status is going to be.”<\/p>\n
