David Moyes and Sunderland haven’t had a good time of things together in the Premier League this season.
?<\/p>\n

The Black Cats are languishing at the foot of the table, and Saturday’s disappointing 0-0 draw with Burnley means they’re now seven points adrift of 17th-placed Swansea.<\/p>\n

<\/i><\/p>\n

With just ten games remaining until the season concludes, things are looking pretty bleak for the Wearside club, and in the hot seat sits a man who looks like he knows he can’t keep them in the division.
?<\/p>\n

There\u00a0was a small minority of\u00a0Sunderland fans who were optimistic when his appointment as manager was announced ahead of the 2016\/2017 – that optimism disintegrated quicker than John O’Shea runs in a parallel universe.<\/p>\n

The fact of the matter is, Sunderland have been dreadful under his management all season, and\u00a0were\u00a0it not\u00a0for Jermain Defoe, they’d probably be rubbing shoulders with THAT Derby County team right about now.

Sunderland admittedly don’t have the highest quality players in the league, but\u00a0on paper, they also don’t have the worst – that accolade, no disrespect intended, probably goes to one of the Premier League’s new boys this season\u00a0in Burnley or Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n

So, why are they\u00a0so bad? The problem lies firmly at the feet of the manager. His tactics, his inability to react to situations, his failure to address weaknesses such as scoring from set plays. His body language, his interviews, my\u00a0God, those interviews!!

Omitting Didier N’Dong against Burnley\u00a0on the basis of “he lacks Britishness” is the sign of a man losing the plot and is actually borderline insulting! He hasn’t exactly been signing of the season, but he sure as hell is a better option than Darron Gibson, who incidentally, is Irish. *facepalm*<\/p>\n

It’s almost as though his ill-fated time as Manchester United manager has actually ruined him – where is the man\u00a0that managed Everton\u00a0to relative success for 11 years? He is genuinely in danger at this point of only being remembered\u00a0as an internet meme – his great work at the Toffees, tarnished.<\/p>\n

Sunderland have scored just 24 goals in 28 games so far this season, “bettered” only by Middlesbrough, and have conceded… far too many.
?<\/p>\n

You never get the feeling that players can look over to the touchline and be inspired. When they’re chasing the game, there should be a natural sense of urgency, starting from the manager.
?<\/p>\n

Fair enough, it’s not in Moyesy’s nature to bust out some Conte or Klopp-style passion, but at this stage of this season, would it hurt just to try and breathe some belief into your players?<\/p>\n

Little has been good about the Scot’s reign so far, and it’s a surprise he remains in charge given their lowly league position and the activity of the teams around them with regard to managerial positions.

Sunderland are doomed to the Championship and have been for some time. If by some miracle they stay in the Premier League AGAIN, then hey, humble pie\u00a0is my favourite.?<\/p>\n
