?Sunderland manager David Moyes has explained his reasoning behind dropping Didier N’Dong for his side’s draw with Burnley.<\/p>\n

Sunderland’s home game with Burnley, who have picked only two points up on the road this season, was seen as a must-win if they were to stand a chance of avoiding relegation to the Championship this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw, and stay rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, seven points from safety.<\/p>\n

There was a surprise before kick-off when the Sunderland lineup was released, with Didier N’Dong starting on the substitutes bench, with Darren Gibson and Jack Rodwell preferred in the centre of midfield.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sunderland seemed to miss N’Dong’s energy in midfield as they struggled to get ahead in the game, and Moyes has revealed why he opted to leave the Gabonese midfielder on the bench, saying: “I decided I wanted Jack and Gibbo together. I thought the game might suit more Britishness in the middle of the pitch.<\/inline><\/p>\n

“I just felt I would go with that in the middle and the two boys up front.”<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Moyes, the tactic didn’t seem to come off. Sunderland now have only ten games left to pull off another miracle, and with a tough set of fixtures to come, it is starting to look like their luck is finally going to run out.<\/p>\n
