?Chelsea defender David Luiz has joked that he is scared of Blues team-mate N’Golo Kante.
Kante is widely regarded one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, having won the competition in two consecutive seasons with Leicester and Chelsea, and Luiz says the prospect of the France international adding goals to his usual tireless displays in midfield frightens him.
“He’s progressed so much – I’m a bit scared about [Kante], imagine how good he will become if he progresses even more and can score more,” Luiz told Sky Sports, as quoted by ?101 Great Goals.
“It’s been a great year for us.
“It’s never easy to win the Premier League and it was a dream come true to come back here.”
Both players have been instrumental in Chelsea’s title win, despite many labelling the signing of Luiz as a ‘panic buy’. The Brazilian has thrived in a back three alongside Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill, helping Antonio Conte’s side keep 16 clean sheets, behind only Tottenham and Manchester United.
Kante has patrolled Chelsea’s midfield alongside partner Nemanja Matic and his displays have earned him numerous individual awards, being named in the PFA Team of the Year as well as winning the Premier League Player of the Season, the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year.
