Stoke Record Signing Giannelli Imbula Ready for Crunch Talks Over Future After Limited Game Time

?Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula is ready for showdown talks with the club over his future, with the Frenchman not ruling out staying at the club.

Imbula’s move to the Britannia has not gone according to plan, with the club’s record signing making only 14 appearances this season.

Stoke City v Burnley - Premier League.

Imbula joined the club from FC Porto in January 2016 for £18.3m, and went on to make 14 Premier League appearances in the second half of the 2015/16 season.

However, this season has not gone according to plan for either Imbula or Stoke, with the Potters finishing a disappointing 13th in the table, while Imbula has struggled to get into the first-team.

Boss Mark Hughes admitted earlier this month that it is likely that Imbula will be moved on in the summer, although the player has now said his future is undecided.

Imbula has said there will be discussions about his future with the club and his agent, stating (via the Stoke Sentinel): “A return to Marseille? I have nothing to declare about that.

What if I stay in Stoke City? I do not know. There will be discussions with the club and my agent, and we will see the best solution for me.

We will see if I stay in England or why not come back to France or go to Italy? It’s complicated. There must be discussions between Stoke City and my agent to talk about a possible departure, if there is one.”
