Remember Radamel Falcao, and his unbelievable career in the Premier League at Manchester United? No?
He seems to be faring a little better at French side AS Monaco, who are in the Round of 16 stage of the Champions League at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the striker’s success might just be down to the goalkeepers serving up goals to him on a plate.
Monaco took on Nancy in the French League Cup semi-final. Unfortunately, Nancy goalkeeper Guy-Roland Ndy Assembe’s laughable mishap led to the only goal of the game and Monaco’s win.
Assembe has it all covered, you’d think. A hopeful flick, like a more stylish hoof into the penalty area, bounces high in the penalty area and the ball seems destined for the safety of the stopper’s gloves.
Except it isn’t. Like that one pea that always seems to escape when you’re trying to eat your dinner, the ball squirms away from Assembe’s despairing reach and drops onto a grateful Falcao’s header.
Most Premier League goalkeepers wouldn’t be seen dead making that kind of mistake. I’m looking at you, Hugo Lloris.
